Caricaturist Al Hirschfeld was born in St. Louis, Missouri June 21, 1903. His distinctive looping line drawings captures the essence of Broadway shows from the 1920s through the early 2000s. The Martin Beck Theatre was renamed the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in 2003, just months after his death at age 99.
