Off-Broadway's Irish Repertory Theatre will present the world premiere of Wild Abandon, a new solo play with music created and performed by actor, playwright, and musician Leenya Rideout (War Horse, Cyrano de Bergerac, Cabaret).
The play, which also features artwork by Rideout's mother Lynn Rideout, examines the complexities of a mother-daughter relationship in which both women are artists.
Wild Abandon is directed by Lisa Rothe (Hold These Truths). Performances will begin September 19 in the W. Scott McLucas Studio Stage, ahead of a September 25 opening night. The limited engagement is scheduled through October 21.

In Wild Abandon, Rideout finds herself stuck in a Long Island pub during a snowstorm, separated from her Irish rock band. Dusting off her original songs, she revisits stories of love, humor, and heartache which all seem to invoke thoughts of her mother, Lynn, a reluctant stage mom and a church lady full of mixed messages.
The production will feature scenic and costume design by Narelle Sissons (Downstairs), lighting design by Mike Baldassari (Children of a Lesser God), and sound design by Brendan Aanes (Fire in Dreamland).
