Two-time Tony nominee Andrew Rannells, who last appeared on Broadway as Whizzer in Falsettos, has landed a comedy series at Showtime. The network has picked up the pilot for the half-hour series Ball Street, according to Deadline.
The series, created and executive produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, is penned by David Caspe (creator of the cult favorite Happy Endings) and Jordan Cahan, who also serve as showrunners.
Ball Street, which also stars Don Cheadle, is set in 1987 during the Wall Street market crash and follows a group of outsiders who shook up the finance scene, decimating the economy in the process.
Prior to his Tony-nominated turn in Falsettos, Rannells appeared on Broadway as King George in Hamilton, as well as Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and The Book of Mormon (for which he earned his first Tony nomination).
