The Off-Broadway premiere of Be More Chill has found its complete cast. Joining the summer production will be Lucille Lortel Award winner Tiffany Mann (Waitress, Jerry Springer the Opera) as Jenna and Britton Smith (Shuffle Along, After Midnight) as Jake.
The coming-of-age musical, which features a score by Joe Iconis and a book by Joe Tracz, will begin performances July 26 at the Irene Diamond Stage at the Pershing Square Signature Center.
Be More Chill premiered in 2015 at New Jersey's Two River Theater. Several members from the original company will reprise their performances Off-Broadway, including George Salazar, Gerard Canonico, Katlyn Carlson, Stephanie Hsu, and Lauren Marcus.
They will be joined by the previously announced Jason Tam as SQUIP (Super Quantum Unit Intel Processor), Jason SweetTooth Williams as Jeremy's Dad and Mr. Reyes, and Dear Evan Hansen's Will Roland as Jeremy, an average teenager who, tempted by the promise of popularity, takes a pill purported to make people more...chill.
Cameron Bond (Finding Neverland), Troy Iwata (The Boy Who Danced on Air), and Talia Suskauer (Love in Hate Nation) will be the company swings.
The Stephen Brackett-helmed production will play a limited nine-week engagement through September 23. Opening night is set for August 9.
