Mischief Theatre, the Olivier-winning company behind the hit London and Broadway comedy The Play That Goes Wrong, will take up a year-long residency at London's Vaudeville Theatre beginning in September. The company will present three new productions at the West End venue through August 2020.
The residency will launch with the new comedy Groan Ups, beginning September 20 prior to an official opening October 10. Performances will continue through December 1.
Written by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields, this first production will be directed by Kirsty Patrick Ward and will star original company members Dave Hearn, Henry Lewis, Charlie Russell, Sayer, Shields, and Nancy Zamit alongside Bryony Corrigan.
Groan Ups asks, "Are we the same people at 30 as we were at 13? Does school life determine our future? Do we ever grow out of our school crush?"
About the residency, Mischief Theatre Artistic Director Lewis and Company Director Sayer said in a joint statement, "We couldn’t be more delighted to have been invited by Nica Burns and Nimax Theatres to take over the Vaudeville Theatre for an entire year. They took a leap of faith with us back in 2014 by putting The Play That Goes Wrong on in the West End so we just hope we can do them proud! Mischief Theatre is incredibly grateful for this amazing opportunity and now we can make sure the laughs continue for audiences."

The Broadway production of The Play That Goes Wrong concluded its run at the Lyceum Theatre January 6 and will resume performances Off-Broadway on February 11 at New World Stages.
