Starz is adapting Katori Hall's play Pussy Valley, the story of four women working in a Mississippi strip club, into a drama series, according to Variety. Titled P-Valley, the hour-long series will star Brandee Evans as Mercedes and Nicco Annan as Uncle Clifford, a trans man who is part of the life of the club.

Shannon Thornton and J. Alphonse Nicholson will appear as series regulars; Karena Evans will direct the premiere episode.

Pussy Valley received a world-premiere production in 2015 from Mixed Blood Theatre in Minneapolis. Annan is reprising the role of Uncle Clifford from the production.

Hall is well-known for The Mountaintop, her Olivier Award-winning drama about the final hours of Martin Luther King Jr before his assassination. The play, which was seen on Broadway starring Samuel L. Jackson and Angela Bassett, received a 38-city tour earlier this year to mark the 50th anniversary of the death of Martin Luther King Jr.

Hall will serve as showrunner and executive producer with Chernin Entertainment executive producing. Khaliah Neal will serve as consulting producer and Patrik-Ian Polk will act as co-executive producer.
