The non-profit educational organization Inside Broadway will honor Tony Award-nominated SpongeBob SquarePants star Ethan Slater and The Band’s Visit lead producer Orin Wolf at its annual Broadway Beacon Awards Gala, set to take place June 25 at the JW Marriott Essex House.
Each year the Broadway Beacon Awards are presented to individuals who advocate for live theatre and the positive impact it has on young people—not only as audience members, but as participants in arts education programs in New York City’s public schools.
Honored alongside Slater and Wolf are Kenneth G. Alberstadt and Alexandra Kambouris Alberstadt.
The gala evening will feature a performance from the Broadway cast of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, as well as students from P.S. 97 in Brooklyn, who participate in Inside Broadway’s educational programs. Baruch Shemtov will host the evening.
Established in 1982, Inside Broadway reaches over 70,000 New York City students in over 100 public schools each year. The non-profit organization brings Broadway to young audiences through a student ticket program, Broadway show study guides, educational videos about the behind-the-scenes operations at a Broadway theatre and 50-minute versions of classic Broadway musicals.
