Edmonton's Citadel Theatre has unveiled its 2019–20 season, featuring shows previously seen in the West End, Off-Broadway, and on Broadway. The Canadian theatre will welcome the West End musical Six this fall and will kick off the new year with Martyna Majok's Pulitzer Prize-winning Cost of Living.
Citadel will launch its new season this summer with the Johnny Cash jukebox musical, Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash (July 20–August 11). Next up will be The Color Purple (September 21–October 13), followed by Six (November 2–24). Six, which is currently playing an encore engagement at London's Arts Theatre, features an all-female band made up of the six wives of Henry VIII.
Closing out the year will be A Christmas Carol (November 30–December 23).
In 2020, Citadel will present Cost of Living (January 11–February 2, 2020), followed by As You Like It (February 15–March 15). The new year lineup also includes a stage adaptation of Todd Babiak's novel The Garneau Block (March 14–April 5), followed by Peter Pan Goes Wrong (April 11–May 3), from the same team behind Broadway and the West End's The Play That Goes Wrong.
