News See a Photo of Teenage Lady Gaga in Her High School Production of Guys and Dolls Before she was an international pop star, Lady Gaga was a New York City high school student with a leading role in a classic Broadway musical.

The pop icon surprised fans and critics during the Feb. 22 Academy Awards when she performed a medley from The Sound of Music, which she performed in a classic, legit Broadway style.

In recent years, she tweeted a photo of herself playing Adelaide in the Tony-winning Frank Loesser musical Guys and Dolls.

Here's what Gaga tweeted: "some things never change...here's a photo of [me] in high school in the school play (set that wig + did my own makeup!)"

In a previous television interview, Gaga recalled her Guys and Dolls experience. "I got cast as Adelaide. It was the greatest moment of high school. I tell you, I still dream about it."

In addition to her original pop songs, the native New Yorker has performed songs from the American songbook, including an unadorned rendition of "Someone to Watch Over Me," backed by piano and a trumpet soloist on "The Today Show," and "Orange Colored Sky" on her 2011 holiday special. She recently released an album of standards with Tony Bennett, titled "Cheek to Cheek." Check out the image below.
