Ian Rickson directs the production, which co-stars Kristin Scott Thomas and Peter Sarsgaard. Previews began at the Kerr Sept. 16, and the 14-week limited engagement will continue through December 21.
Rickson's production of The Seagull, which played a January-March 2007 run at London's Royal Court, features a new translation penned by playwright Christopher Hampton (Les Liaisons Dangereuses, The Philanthropist).
Thomas reprises her Olivier Award-winning performance as grand actress and mother Arkadina for New York audiences. She is joined onstage by Sarsgaard, who is also making his Broadway debut, as Trigorin. The cast also features members of the original Royal Court Theatre cast, including Mackenzie Crook (of the British series "The Office") as novice writer-director Konstantin (Arkadina's son), Art Malik as Dorn, Carey Mulligan as young actress Nina, Pearce Quigley as Medvedenko, Peter Wight as Sorin, Christopher Patrick Nolan as Yakov and Mary Rose as the Maid with Zoe Kazan as Masha, Ann Dowd as Polina and Julian Gamble as Shamrayev.
