Julia Stiles, now playing Viola in Twelfth Night at the Delacorte Theatre in Central Park, told Playbill On-Line that although she'd played Ophelia in the contemporary film version of Hamlet, she fought hard for her summer gig in Manhattan. "I'd been wanting to get back on stage for a long time," she told Playbill On-Line for the weekly Brief Encounter interview, saying she contacted The Public Theater for the gig. "When I found out they were going to do Twelfth Night this summer, I jumped on it. And I auditioned for it and fought very hard to get this part. I met with the producer and then I auditioned for it twice."
