Grammy Award-winning recording artist Alanis Morissette, whose theatrical history includes an eleventh-hour injection of financing for the Broadway musical Jane Eyre and a run in Off-Broadway's The Vagina Monologues, attended the performance and reception that followed. Iconic composer-lyricist Stephen Sondheim was also in attendance. Below, Morissette is seen with writer-performer Heather Raffo, who was also celebrating the Special Commendation she was awarded the previous night from the jurors of the 2005 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize for her play about the numerous plights of Iraqi women.
Nine Parts of Desire is directed by Joanna Settle and is currently enjoying an open-ended run at Manhattan Ensemble Theater at 55 Mercer Street in Soho.
