News Outer Critics Circle Nominees Announced; Pippin Earns 11 Nominations Robert Cuccioli and Laila Robins announced the nominees for the Outer Critics Circle Awards April 22 at The Friars Club.

The revival of Stephen Schwartz's Pippin, directed by Diane Paulus, earned 11 nominations, the most of any production of the season. Other productions that fared well include Kinky Boots (nine nominations), Chaplin: The Musical and Cinderella (eight nominations apiece) and Golden Boy and The Nance (six nominations apiece).

The Outer Critics Circle is the organization of writers covering New York theatre for out-of-town newspapers, national publications and other media beyond Broadway.

The winners will be announced May 13, and the annual awards ceremony will be held May 23 at 4 PM at Sardi’s Restaurant.
