Developed as part of Cherry Lane's Obie Award-winning 2008 Mentor Project, Jailbait will begin performances March 19 and officially open March 25. The production will run through April 25 at the Cherry Pit, formerly the site of the Bank Street Theatre.
Suzanne Agins directs a cast including Kelly AuCoin (Some Men), Peter O'Connor (The Sexual Neurosis of Our Parents), Natalia Payne (Aliens with Extraordinary Skills) and Wrenn Schmidt (Crazy for the Dog).
"In Jailbait, two fifteen-year-old girls spend a night at a Boston club posing as college students. When the girls cross paths with two thirty-something men, they must decide how far they are willing to go while playing at adulthood," press notes state.
Jailbait has scenic design by Kina Park, costume design by Rebecca Bernstein, lighting design by Pat Dignan and sound design by Daniel Kluger and Brandon Wolcott.
O'Connor's plays also include Hero, The Death of May McAllister and Wednesday. The ten-year lease on the Cherry Pit will allow the Cherry Lane to offer a smaller midsize theatre for their own programming, as well as a rental space for many of the New York theatre companies who are increasingly in need of performance venues.
For tickets, priced $40, phone (212) 868-4444 or visit Smarttix. The Cherry Pit is located at 155 Bank Street.
