While the first teaser for Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again offered familiar takes on some of the iconic ABBA songs heard in the first film, the recently released international trailer gives a first listen to one of the new tunes to enter the Mamma Mia! universe.
The second trailer, below, opens with ABBA's “Angeleyes," a song from neither the original stage musical or its film adaptation. The preview also depicts the return of Sophie's husband Sky (Dominic Cooper), as Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) reveals that she's pregnant: “Only this time we know who the father is."
Universal's Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again!, in theatres July 20, follows two timelines: the backstory of Donna Sheridan (played originally on screen by Meryl Streep, portrayed in flashbacks now by Lily James) and how she met the three men who'd become her daughter Sophie's prospective fathers, and the current Sophie, who prepares to welcome a child of her own. In the latter, Donna appears to be absent under yet-to-be-explained circumstances.Several members from the original movie's cast, including Seyfried, Streep, Cooper, Christine Baranski, Julie Walters, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, and Stellan Skarsgård, return for the sequel. Joining them are several new faces, including James, stage alum Jessica Keenan Wynn, and Cher, who plays Donna's mother Ruby.
