Two of the theatre's more sought-after leading ladies, Debbie Gravitte (formerly Debbie Shapiro Gravitte) and Rebecca Luker, will join Whistle Down the Wind's Davis Gaines for the final City Center's Encores! presentation, May 1-4. Rodgers and Hart's The Boys From Syracuse is the third "Great American Musical in Concert" this season, after critically-acclaimed productions of Sweet Adeline and Promises, Promises.
The production will be directed by Susan H. Schulman (Violet and The Secret Garden), and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall.
Gravitte, who won a Tony for her work in Jerome Robbins' Broadway, will have the role of Luce and get the chance to sing "He and She" and "Oh, Diogenes!" Luker, who thrilled audiences with her glorious soprano in The Secret Garden, will play Adriana and sing "Falling In Love With Love" and will join Gravitte and another rising star, Sarah Uriarte, on "Sing for Your Supper."
