The Broadway production of Bandstand celebrates its official opening night at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre April 26. The new musical stars Corey Cott and Tony nominee Laura Osnes.
The musical, directed and choreographed by Hamilton Tony winner Andy Blankenbuehler, uses an original swing score by Robert Taylor and Richard Oberacker to tell the story of Donny Novitski (Cott), who assembles a band of fellow WWII veterans to enter a national radio contest searching for the next big band sensation. Along the way, he teams up with Julia (Osnes,) a young war widow who becomes the group’s lead singer.
