The 959 Group will present an industry reading of the musical Looking for Christmas December 4 at 2 PM at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater, 416 West 42nd Street.
Directed by Kent Nicholson, the new musical features music and lyrics by country star Clint Black with a book by James D. Sasser.
The cast will feature Hannah Elless (Bright Star, Benny & Joon), Matt DeAngelis (Waitress, Once), Nikki Renee Daniels (The Book of Mormon), Scott Stangland (Great Comet, Once), Tai Lyn Sandhu, Robert DuSold (Les Miserables), Keri Safran, Caitlin Houlahan (Waitress), Tally Sessions (War Paint, School of Rock), Will Coombs (A Bronx Tale), Sami Molly Bray (1984, Madeleine’s Christmas), Jake Ryan Flynn (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), and Sophia Eleni Kekllas (School of Rock).
Looking for Christmas, which features new songs as well as tunes from Black's Christmas album and several of his hits, centers on an American veteran returning home from serving in Afghanistan. His wife, daughter, and their community of friends help him to heal, while in the process they all reconnect to the true meaning of Christmas.
Music supervision is by Charles Vincent Burwell with musical direction by Matt Hinkley.
