Dyllón Burnside, who plays Ricky on FX’s history-making drama series Pose, will be joined his co-stars Mj Rodriguez (Blanca) and Ryan Jamaal Swain (Damon) July 23 at the Cutting Room for a special benefit concert celebrating show's season one finale. Show time is 7:30 PM.
Burnside and Rodriguez hail from the New York theatre scene. Burnside was part of the Tupac Shakur musical Holler If Ya Hear Me and NBC’s Peter Pan Live, and Rodriguez is a Clive Barnes Award winner for Rent, having also appeared in Encores! Off-Center’s Runaways, and the world premieres of Street Children and Trans Voices at A.R.T.
The cast will also be celebrating the recent news that FX has picked up the series for a second season, slated to premiere in 2019.
Up Close and Personal with Dyllón Burnside will also feature Emil Wilbekin (President and Founder of Native Son), and surprise performances by friends of the show.
All proceeds go to GLSEN (the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network), the leading national education organization focused on ensuring safe and affirming schools for LGBTQ+ students.
Pose, the new series from Glee and American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy (producer of Broadway’s The Boys in the Band alongside David Stone) made television history by casting five trans actors of color in series regular roles—the highest number yet for a scripted series.
Next year, Carnegie Hall's house band will perform Bernstein’s “Kaddish” Symphony, unfinished works by Schubert, and the final concert of Conductor Bernard Labadie.
