This summer the Times Square Alliance will transform the midtown hot spot into a free, outdoor stage featuring performers from the Broadway and around the globe.
Beginning June 5 at 5 PM will be the Broadway Buskers concert series featuring original music performed by Broadway actors. Kicking off the series will be a performance by singer-songwriter Michael Haynie (Wicked, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Holler If Ya Hear Me). This will be followed by a performance by Starbird and the Phoenix (Great Comet's Courtney Bassett with Andrew Swackhamer) at 6 PM.
The Broadway Buskers concerts will be hosted by Broadway Cast podcast host Ben Cameron and will be positioned within TSQ MKT, a food and retail market that stretches from 42nd to 47th Streets on the Broadway Pedestrian Plazas. Additional performers will be announced at a later date.
Also included in the lineup of events to take over Times Square this summer are performances from Brooklyn-based contemporary circus company The Muse (Wednesdays in June from 4–6 PM in Broadway Plaza); and a global concert series feature an eclectic roster of artists from around the world (Wednesdays in June and July from 6–8 PM in Broadway Plaza).
