Lin-Manuel Miranda's fifth offering in his #Hamildrop series gives fans a taste of Eliza's original Act II ballad—a draft written before the Hamilton creator landed on the version of "Burn" now heard in the Tony- and Pulitzer-winning musical.
The track, titled "First Burn," dropped April 30 at midnight local time and features five current and former Elizas across the United States and in the U.K.: Lexi Lawson (Broadway), Julia K. Harriman (first national tour), Shoba Narayan (second national tour), Rachelle Ann Go (West End), and Arianna Afsar (original Chicago company).

"I wrote the FIRST draft of Burn in 2014," Miranda tweeted. "It's different, but it's a mood." The recording is produced by Mike Elizondo (who also worked on The Hamilton Mixtape) and Alex Lacamoire (the show's Tony-winning orchestrator and music director, who provided new arrangements for the track).
The #Hamildrop series offers new Hamilton-inspired content every month through December. Last month, Miranda teamed with Dear Evan Hansen's Ben Platt to record "Found Tonight," a mashup of "The Story of Tonight" and "You Will Be Found"; proceeds went to March for Our Lives.
