News Black Milk Begins Limited Run at Off-Broadway's East 13th Street Theatre July 19 Black Milk, by the Russian playwright Vassily Sigarev, in a translation by Sasha Dugdale, makes its New York premiere July 19 at East 13th Street Theatre, home of Classic Stage Company.

The cast comprises Liba Vaynberg, Josh Marcantel, Anna Foss Wilson, John Bambery and Emily Ward.

In Black Milk, press notes state, "Lyovchik and Poppet, a small-time crook and his heavily pregnant, chain-smoking, lollipop-sucking wife, descend on a post-Communist wasteland, swindling villagers out of their savings. The young couple sit stranded in a remote train station and as the night persists, the strange, cruel, and whimsical world of their homeland teaches them a lesson."

The production also features set design by Ika Avaliani, lighting design by Yuki Nakase and costume design by Liene Dobraja.

Black Milk is produced by High Stakes Theatre (Katharine Beckett Sullivan, founder) and Palo de Agua (artistic director Michel Hausmann, executive producer Yair Rosemberg).
