A new children’s musical that explores living with disabilities will play New York this summer. Addy & Uno will run September 2–24 at The Theater at the 14th Street Y.
The musical features five characters (represented by puppets): Addy, who has ADHD, Uno, who has autism, Melody, who is visually impaired, Seemore, who is hearing impaired, and RJ, who has paraplegia. Though each has a different disability, they are able to harness their own special strengths and protect themselves and each other from bullying.
Addy & Uno is created by Nava R. Silton, who also wrote the book. The production, featuring a score by Bonnie Gleicher, will be directed by Emmy nominee Donna Drake.
