The much anticipated revival of Cats opened at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre July 31, and the stars came out in sleek to chic, just like the some of the felines did in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical adaption of Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats , written by that sly old puss himself, T.S. Eliot!

Who Was the Best Dressed at the Jellicle Ball?
Celebrity stylist George Brescia shares his favorite fashion picks from the opening night of Cats.

Laura Osnes never seems to get her opening nights wrong. She floated in last night in a few of the favorite trends this season; the lace ‘n’ lingerie look… and in a trend-right sea-foam blue that made everyone feel cool ‘n’ comfortable during this heat wave! Is it possible for a dress to be thirst-quenching? This one was!
Tommy Tune , the Silver Fox of Broadway. This is how handsome a man can be for an opening night! Classy and cool, Tommy complimented the silver in his great hair with his suit in lighter-than-air-grey. An open collared white shirt, untucked and a long matching white scarf, he looked like he was ready for a stroll in Cannes or Capri!
Stephanie J. Block & Sebastian Arcelus arrived in two of the hot colors for this season. Stephanie in her lacy, deep fuchsia negligee dress. The empire waist and graze-the-knee length kept this stunner right on the edge of naughty and verrry-nice! And Sebastian in his cool/cobalt suit framed her very nicely too!
No one rocks a jumpsuit like Patina Miller ! She manages to carry them off with style and a sexy grace that’s hers and hers alone! Last night, she came in with an asymmetrical, off-one-shoulder silhouette in cobalt! Fitted and then flared slightly at the hem with just a peek of red at the heels! Yes, Patina, congratulations!... That’s another A+
Cory Michael Smith ! Wow! Talk about “fashion-forward”! Cory arrived in a black zip-front baseball jacket over matching black shorts and a pair of sparkling-black dress shoes. Scrunched-up sleeves! No socks! I’m telling you, all heads turned when he hit the carpet! ….Smokin’!!!
Betsy Wolf was all “now-you-see-it-now-you-don’t” in her black ankle-length evening dress. The cutout panels in black overlays of illusion fabric accented here and there with black ribbon piping kept your eyes dancing all over while she glided by. And that cascade of honey-gold hair down one shoulder was the perfect accessory along with the gold pumps!
Tyler Hanes pushed the envelope for the guys in his patterned suit. An asymmetrical print of blues and blacks, it was fitted to a “T,” and with a crisp white shirt, narrow black tie, and polished-to-perfection loafers without socks, Tyler broke hearts left and right with his movie-star good-looks! It didn’t hurt that the blue in his suit matched those blue eyes ...exactly!
Speaking of pushing the envelope! …was anyone more sexy and sultry than the slinky Georgina Pazcoguinis ?!?... I’m telling you, people gasped as she slid by in her see-it-all (almost!) sheath of embroidered translucent silk by designer Malan Breton. Always known for his craftsmanship and taste, Malan dropped blossoms and garlands in just the right places. And Georgina wore the dress, the dress most certainly did not wear her! Brava! ...in every sense of the word!!
Ana Villafañe showed she knew the trends for the season in her off-the-shoulder (on trend!) and water-colored laser print (trend #2!) cocktail dress. Bold laser printed textiles are big this year, especially in bright saturated colors and abstract/floral/geometric patterns. Ana’s dress was certainly a breath of fresh air in the steamy night!
Leona Lewis was chic personified in her black floor length gown with the gorgeous off-the-shoulder and notched neckline! The flaring sleeves echoed by the flaring hemline played perfectly with her beautiful figure, and the choker and bracelet sparkled like stars against that shimmering black silk. Head-to-toe, Leona was truly what I call sexy & sophisticated!
Right after the cheers and standing ovations, the crowd sprinted around the corner to its own Jellicle Ball at the spectacular former-bank-now-party-palace Gotham Hall! It was the beginning of a (ok, forgive the pun!) PURRRR-FECT evening! …#andScene.
