Jessie Mueller and Megan Hilty have found their partners for Lifetime’s upcoming TV movie Patsy & Loretta. Joining the cast of the country music-themed biopic are Broadway vet Joe Tippet (Waitress, NBC’s Rise) and Kyle Schmid (Six, The I-Land), according to Deadline.
Casting for the title roles was announced earlier this month, with Tony nominee Hilty playing Patsy Cline and Tony winner Jessie Mueller portraying Loretta Lynn. Tippet will play Doolittle “Mooney” Lynn, Loretta’s husband and father to their four children. Meanwhile, Schmid will appear as Cline’s second husband, Charlie Dick.
This isn’t the first time Tippett and Mueller have played opposite each other. The two appeared in the regional tryout of Waitress at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with Mueller as Jenna and Tippett as her abusive husband, Earl. Tippett did not follow Mueller in the New York transfer, but did eventually appear as Earl on Broadway.
Patsy & Loretta is set to premiere in late 2019.
