It will begin a U.K. tour in August 2011 in Milton Keynes, going on to visit Birmingham, Salford, Southampton, Plymouth, Norwich, Canterbury and Leeds before a hoped-for West End transfer.
It will star Summer Strallen (currently appearing as Meg Giry in Love Never Dies) and Tom Chambers (winner of BBC TV's "Strictly Come Dancing" and star of TV's "Holby City" and "Waterloo Road") in the roles played in the film by Rogers and Astaire, respectively.
The show is being directed by Matthew White (Sweet Charity and Little Shop of Horrors for the Menier Chocolate Factory, both of which transferred to the West End) and choreographed by Bill Deamer (Evita on tour), with orchestrations by Chris Walker. It is being adapted for the stage by White and Howard Jacques, based on the screenplay by Dwight Taylor and Allan Scott. It is produced by Kenny Wax Ltd, based on the RKO Motion Picture.
Further casting and dates are still to be announced.
