The 8 PM performance will feature three mini-musicals penned by Iconis: Nelson Rocks!, "a rock musical about asking Jenny Veccharelli to the prom" that was co-written with Reza Jacobs; Miss Marzipan, "a jittery musical about a frazzled suburbanite preparing for a high-stakes dinner party"; and The Process, "a bleeding-heart musical about a writer trying to meet a deadline." Songwriter Iconis will play piano for the concert, and he will be joined onstage by Nick Blaemire, Jared Weiss, Lorinda Lisitza, Lance Rubin, Lauren Marcus, Morgan Pate and Jason "Sweet Tooth" Williams. John Simpkins directs.
Iconis, who received his MFA from the NYU/Tisch Graduate Musical Theater Writing Program, is a recipient of both the Jonathan Larson Award and the Daryl Roth Award. MCC will present his musical The Black Suits, penned with Robert Maddock, next year.
