Based on Nancy McArthur's children's book of the same title, Dirty Socks is the annual free summer offering from Theatreworks USA. Performances began July 16 and continue through Aug. 22. Iconis (The Black Suits) has penned book, music and lyrics for the family-friendly musical that follows two young brothers named Norman and Michael, who share a very messy room that is covered in piles of dirty socks. When the boys send away for some "Amazing Beans" that sprout into very large plants, they suddenly realize all of their smelly socks are disappearing.

Jason Williams and Lance Rubin appear as Michael and Norman, respectively. The cast also includes Lorinda Lisitza as Mom, Lauren Marcus as nosey cheerleader Patty Jenkins, Jeffrey Omura as Jason/Mackenzie and Kilty Reidy as Dad.

John Simpkins stages the production that features choreography by Jennifer Werner. The creative team also features scenic design by Michael Schweikardt, costume design by Tracy Christensen, lighting design by Chris Dallos, sound design by Eric Shim, puppet design by Eric Wright and music direction by Jana Zielonka.

Free tickets are not available for the July 24 opening-night benefit performance. The Lucille Lortel Theatre is located in Manhattan at 121 Christopher Street.
