News Tade Biesinger Will Become Broadway's Newest Billy Elliot; Alex Ko to Depart Universal Pictures Stage Productions, Working Title Films and Old Vic Productions in association with Weinstein Live Entertainment announced April 20 that Tade Biesinger will become the latest young actor to play the title role in Broadway's Tony-winning Billy Elliot the Musical at the Imperial Theatre.

Biesinger will join Jacob Clemente, Joseph Harrington and Peter Mazurowski, who rotate in the title role. Another current Billy, Alex Ko, will play his final performance May 15 at 7:30 PM.  

The Broadway cast also currently features Emily Skinner as Mrs. Wilkinson, Gregory Jbara as Dad, Carole Shelley as Grandma, Will Chase as Tony and Cameron Clifford and Neil McCaffrey as Michael.

Tade Biesinger, who is 11, will be making his Broadway debut. He trained at Dance Impressions and Ballet West Academy and performed in Ballet West’s Nutcracker as Fritz and also in Madame Butterfly.

Billy Elliot the Musical, according to press notes, is the "joyous celebration of one boy’s journey to make his dreams come true. Set in a small town, the story follows Billy as he stumbles out of the boxing ring and into a ballet class, discovering a surprising talent that inspires his family and his whole community and changes his life forever."

The musical features music by Elton John, book and lyrics by Lee Hall, choreography by Peter Darling and direction by Stephen Daldry.
