The Stage Managers’ Association will honor Rich Costabile, Barbara Donner, Mary K. Klinger with the Del Hughes Lifetime Achievement in the Art of Stage Management September 23.
Janet Friedman will receive the Founders Award, in recognition for her service to the SMA over the years.
Costabile has worked on seven Broadway shows, toured with Hal Holbrook in Mark Twain Tonight! for 17 years, and much more during his storied career.
Donner currently works with the Los Angeles Opera and Philharmonic along with staging the past 11 seasons of summer musicals at Hollywood Bowl.
Klinger managed the original Broadway run of Angels in America, the Death of a Salesman 50th anniversary tour, and the London production Spunk.

Friedman’s first Broadway show was the original 1983 production of 42nd Street and she is a founding member of Founding Member of the Stage Managers’ Associate.
Instituted in 1986, the awards were named for Del Hughes, who had an illustrious career as a Broadway and television stage manager as well as a TV director from 1933 to the 1970s.
