The Broadway premiere of Christopher Demos-Brown's American Son has added a starry producing team to its roster. The team of co-producers joining the production Shonda Rhimes, Jada Pinkett Smith, Gabrielle Union-Wade, Dwyane Wade, Steve Stoute, and Nnamdi Asomugha.
As previously reported, Kerry Washington (an Emmy and Golden Globe nominee for Rhimes' Scandal) will star in the upcoming staging and is also among the producers with Jeffrey Richards, Rebecca Gold, and Will Trice.
The Kenny Leon-helmed production will begin performances October 6 at the Booth Theatre, where opening night is set for November 4. The cast also includes Steven Pasquale, Jeremy Jordan, and Eugene Lee.
The play, which premiered at Barrington Stage Company in 2016, follows a separated, interracial couple that reunites as they must grapple with the disappearance of their teenage son.
