Having completed a featured role in the January 2017 workshop of the Go-Go’s musical Head Over Heels, Broadway star Rachel York is currently in the midst of a concert tour that will take her to California, Pennsylvania, Washington, and elsewhere.
On August 19 she will appear with Michael Feinstein and the Pasadena Pops in a salute to composer George Gershwin, titled Gershwin and Friends.
York, who was on Broadway most recently in 2016’s Disaster!, told Playbill previously, “It’s been an exciting 2017. I am currently in the middle of a ten-city tour with symphonies around the country. It’s been a joy and privilege sharing the stage with such terrific orchestras. I'm also keeping my fingers crossed that the musicals Head Over Heels and Little Dancer make their way to Broadway. I had the great pleasure of working on both shows in recent months and they are both truly awesome."
York earned a 1996 Drama Desk Award for her performance in Victor/Victoria. Other Broadway credits include Fantine during the original run of Les Misérables, as well as City of Angels, The Scarlet Pimpernel, and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. She also appeared in Ahrens & Flaherty’s Dessa Rose at Lincoln Center and starred opposite Betty Buckley in Sag Harbor and Los Angeles stagings of Grey Gardens.
