In celebration of its 15th anniversary, Avenue Q will welcome members of the musical’s original Broadway company and other alumni for 15 performances July 18–29. Among those tapped to make surprise guest turns will be original Christmas Eve Ann Harada; Stephanie D’Abruzzo, who originated the roles of Kate Monster and Lucy; original Rod John Tartaglia; and Trekkie Monster Rick Lyon.
Other performers scheduled to appear in the Off-Broadway production at New World Stages include Carmen Ruby Floyd, Barrett Foa, Maggie Lakis, Anika Larsen, Rick Lyon, Rob McClure, Brynn O’Malley, and Sharon Wheatley.
Additional guest stars will be announced at a later date. Each of the 15 anniversary shows will feature audience giveaways.
There will also be a special added performance of the show July 31 to coincide with the anniversary of Avenue Q opening on Broadway in 2003. The musical comedy ran for seven years at Broadway's John Golden Theatre before transferring to Off-Broadway's New World Stages, where it continues to play. The musical had also originated Off-Broadway at the Vineyard Theatre.
There will also be an Avenue Q reunion concert at Feinstein's/54 Below July 30 featuring the show's creators and cast members from Broadway and beyond. There will be concert performances at 7 PM and 9:30 PM.
The Tony-winning musical Avenue Q features music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, a book by Jeff Whitty, and direction by Jason Moore. Set on a street block in New York City, the story follows a group of humans and puppets learning how to live and love in the Big Apple.
