Off-Broadway Return of The Play That Goes Wrong Opens February 20 at New World Stages

Following a hit Broadway run, Mischief Theatre’s The Play That Goes Wrong resumed performances Off-Broadway February 11 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street). The production officially opens February 20.

The cast features Ryan Vincent Anderson as Trevor, Brent Bateman as Robert, Bartley Booz as Dennis, Matt Harrington as Chris, Bianca Horn as Annie, Chris Lanceley as Jonathan, Ashley Reyes as Sandra, and Matt Walker as Max. The company also includes Damien Brett, Adam Daveline, Simone Policano, and Maggie Weston.

Mischief Theatre co-founder and co-writer Henry Lewis said in an earlier statement, “The new cast is the best one yet, it contains an actor who shows some promise and we hope his parole officer changes her mind and allows him to go on. I’m told the actors are being paid in fruit—which is certainly interesting.”

The Play That Goes Wrong is directed by Matt DiCarlo with set design by Tony winner Nigel Hook, costume design by Roberto Surace, lighting design by Jeremy Cunningham, and sound design by Beth Lake. (The Broadway production was directed by Mark Bell and featured lighting design by Ric Mountjoy and sound design by Andrew Johnson.)

Co-written by Mischief Theatre company members Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields, The Play That Goes Wrong introduces The Cornley University Drama Society, who are attempting to put on a 1920’s murder mystery, but everything that can go wrong does, as the accident-prone thespians battle on against all odds to get to their final curtain call.
