Following a premiere at London’s National Theatre, the Sam Mendes-directed production of The Lehman Trilogy will play New York City. Performances will begin March 22, 2019, at the Park Avenue Armory, where it will play a limited engagement through April 20.

Reprising their performances in the three-part play (all told in a single evening) will be Adam Godley, Ben Miles, and Simon Russell Beale, who play the three title brothers, their sons, and grandsons.

The Stefano Massini play, featuring an adapted, English-language script by Ben Power, follows the 163-year saga that begins with a young man in Bavaria dreaming of a new life and ends with one of the world’s largest financial crises. It opened at the Piccolo Teatre in Milan in 2015, marking director Luca Ronconi’s final production before his death.

“Manhattan is the natural home for this epic play, and the Armory an iconic space for staging it, continuing a line of productions by major international directors who are thrilled to incorporate the Wade Thompson Drill Hall into their vision,” said Park Avenue Armory Artistic Director Pierre Audi. “With The Lehman Trilogy, we are once more making this dream come true.”

The new staging features sets by Es Devlin, lighting by Jon Clark, costumes by Katrina Lindsay, sound design and original music by Nick Powell, and video design by Luke Halls. Additional casting—as well as further programming in Park Avenue Armory’s 2019 season—will be announced at a later date.
