Directed by Peter Flynn, performances are scheduled for November 2-20.
Opel will be joined by Andrea Bianchi (Being Audrey), Laura Dean (The Who’s Tommy), Philip Hoffman (Into the Woods, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Cabaret), MaryAnn Hu (South Pacific, Miss Saigon, The King and I), Christopher Shyer (Mamma Mia!) and Tom Treadwell (Annie).
The new musical has a book by Bobby Goldman and music and lyrics by Drew Brody. Curvy Widow, according to press notes, “is about the exploits of a fifty-something widow whose adventures in the least expected places reveal unexpected truths about life, love, survival and sex. In this sassy, frank and witty musical, Curvy learns the HARD way what it means to start life over in the modern age.”
The production will also have choreography by Marcos Santana, musical direction by Andrew Sotomayor, orchestrations by Wayne Barker, costume design by Brian Hemesath, set design by Andrew Mannion, lighting design by CJ Barnwell, sound design by Matt Nielson and props by Jessica Tandy Kammerud. Casting is by Stewart/Whitley.
