Tony Award nominee Melissa Errico will release her latest album, Sondheim Sublime, November 2 on the Ghostlight/Warner Music Group label. Accompanied by pianist Tedd Firth, the album will include interpretations of such Sondheim songs as “The Miller’s Son,” “With So Little to Be Sure Of,” “Marry Me a Little,” “Isn’t He Something?,” “Goodbye for Now,” and “Losing My Mind.”
Errico will celebrate the album’s release with a November 1–3 concert engagement at Feinstein’s/54 Below. Click here for tickets.
“This CD came out of 16 months of concerts and working with my pianist and partner Tedd Firth,” Errico said in a statement. “Tedd and I wrestled with how complex the songs are, but mostly we just have so much fun making music together. I wanted to capture our concerts, our rehearsals, the connection we were making since the spring of 2017. In singing this album of Sondheim songs, I wanted to highlight the wisdoms that flow out of his music, right into the deepest corners of my mind. My affirmations, my losses, my life, caring for children, my loves, and my longings…all of this is, for me, present in his songs. I’m lucky to have the chance to transmit these emotions.”
Errico is the star of Broadway’s Amour (Tony Award nomination); High Society; Dracula, the Musical; My Fair Lady; and Irving Berlin’s White Christmas; she also has appeared Off-Broadway in Do I Hear a Waltz?, Passion, and the Irish Rep’s Finian’s Rainbow and On a Clear Day You Can See Forever.
