The upcoming world premiere of Alexis Scheer’s Our Dear Dead Drug Lord, in which a gang of teenage girls gathers in an abandoned treehouse to summon the ghost of Pablo Escobar, has found its cast. What to Send Up director Whitney White will helm the co-production, from WP Theater and Second Stage Theater at WP's McGinn/Cazale Theater, this fall.
Described as "a rollercoaster ride through the danger and damage of girlhood," performances will begin September 11 ahead of a September 24 opening.
The cast will include Carmen Berkeley (Scorch), Daniel Duque-Estrada (Recent Alien Abductions), Alyssa May Gold (Juliet + Romeo), Rebecca Jimenez (Leveling Up), and Malika Samuel, recently seen on Broadway in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. One role remains to be cast and will be announced at a later date.
The production will feature scenic design by Yu-Hsuan Chen, costume design by Andrew Jean, lighting design by Lucrecia Briceno, sound design by Fan Zhang, intimacy and fight direction by Judi Lewis Ockler, and casting by Kelly Gillespie.
