The play by Matthew Lombardo is directed by Rob Ruggiero. Previews began on Feb. 19 and it opened March 14. The reviews for Harper (TV's "Rhoda") were enthusiastic.
Looped tells the story of boozy Tallulah Bankhead, the internationally celebrated actress, being called into a sound studio in 1965 to re-record (or "loop") one line of dialogue for what would be her last film. She spars with an uptight film editor (Brian Hutchison), revealing details about both of their lives. Michael Mulheren plays a sound engineer.
The show is produced by Tony Cacciotti, Chase Mishkin and Leonard Soloway.
The creative team for Looped includes set designer Adrian W. Jones, costume designer William Ivey Long, wig designer Charles LaPointe, lighting designer Ken Billington and sound designers Michael Hooker/Peter Fitzgerald.
