Julia Murney, seen on Broadway in Wicked and Off-Broadway in The Wild Party, plays the ultimate stage mother Rose in the Cape Playhouse production of Gypsy. The Arthur Laurents, Jule Styne, and Stephen Sondheim musical plays the Massachusetts venue August 8–19.
Murney is joined by a fellow Elphaba, Caroline Bowman (Kinky Boots, Evita on tour), as Louise.
The duo head a cast that also includes James Lloyd Reynolds (Herbie), Tess Soltau (June), Garett Hawe (Tulsa), Jennifer Cody (Tessis/Cratchit), Wally Dunn (Pop/Goldstone/Webber), Jane Blass (Mazeppa), Amy Bodnar (Electra), Tom Ferguson (Uncle Jocko, Patsy), Allie Keisel (Baby June), Lily Grace Riddle (Baby Louise), Lindsay Bell (Ensemble), Julia Freyer (Ensemble), Alicia Hemann (Ensemble), Drew King (Ensemble), John Scacchetti (Ensemble/Yonkers), Sam Skalbeck (Ensemble), Sachie Capitani (Youth Ensemble), Peter Cotoia (Youth Ensemble), Madi Shaer (Youth Ensemble/Balloon Girl), and Daniel Smily (Youth Ensemble).
Cape Playhouse Artistic Director Michael Rader directs, with choreography by Jason Sparks and musical direction by Garrett Taylor. The design team includes scenic designer David Arsenault, costume designer Gail Baldoni, lighting designer Zach Blane, and sound designer Robert Hornbostel.
