The Broadway premiere of the highly anticipated Mean Girls musical officially opened April 8 at the August Wilson Theatre.
The musical features a book by Tina Fey (who wrote and appeared in the original 2004 film), a score by her husband Jeff Richmond, and lyrics by Nell Benjamin. Casey Nicholaw directs and choreographs.
Leading the cast is Erika Henningsen (Les Misérables) as new girl in school Cady Heron (played on screen by Lindsay Lohan). Bringing to life the Plastics, the vicious clique Heron infiltrates, are Taylor Louderman (Kinky Boots) as queen bee Regina George, Ashley Park (Sunday in the Park With George) as Gretchen Wieners, and Kate Rockwell (Rock of Ages) as Karen Smith.
