Ingrid Michaelson is at work on composing the score for a musical adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' The Notebook. The singer-songwriter and Broadway alum made the announcement on the January 3 installment of The Today Show as she co-hosted with Hoda Kotb.
The musical adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks novel will feature a book by Bekah Brunstetter, a writer and producer on NBC's This Is Us who also penned the play The Cake (heading Off-Broadway next month) and the upcoming film adaptation of The Secret. Kevin McCollum and Kurt Deutsch will produce in association with Sparks.
Michaelson made her Broadway debut as Sonya in Natasha, Pierre, & the Great Comet of 1812 in 2017. The recording artist's music—including the Platinum singles “The Way I Am,” “Girls Chase Boys,” and “Celebrate”—are released on her own label, Cabin 24 Records
