Director Jon M. Chu and wife Kristin Hodge welcomed baby Jonathan Heights Chu into the world July 26.
Chu took a break from directing the upcoming In the Heights film adaptation to be with his family, according to Chu's Twitter post, adding that the baby’s nickname will be "Heights."
I took the day off yesterday from shooting @Lin_Manuel’s #InTheHeightsMovie so I could witness my beautiful wife give birth to our first son... Introducing Jonathan Heights Chu (aka Heights). May your hands always be connected to others but your view be towards the skies. pic.twitter.com/RClOypfUei

This is not the first In The Heights–related birth. Shortly after opening Off-Broadway, book writer Quiara Alegría Hudes went into labor.
Filming for the movie, which is scheduled for a June 2020 release, continues this summer in Manhattan. Starring are Anthony Ramos as Usnavi, Corey Hawkins as Benny, Melissa Barrera as Vanessa, Leslie Grace as Nina, Gregory Diaz IV as Sonny, Marc Antony as Sonny's father, and Jimmy Smits as Kevin Rosario. Composer Lin-Manuel Miranda is set to appear as Piraguero.
