“These are people, but they’re cats, and this is kind of blowing my mind,” says James Corden in the video above; as you can imagine, he’s referring to Cats. Before the film adaptation of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical drops its first trailer July 19, take a look at the behind-the-scenes featurette above.
While we don’t get to see the group of stars in their full, furry Jellicleness in the video, rehearsal footage shows the likes of Corden, Taylor Swift, and Jennifer Hudson dancing about on oversized furniture, at the feline-friendly Milk Bar, and more.
The Universal Pictures title arrives in movie theatres December 20 with a cast including Hudson as Grizabella, Swift as Bombalurina, Corden as Bustopher Jones, Judi Dench as Old Deuteronomy, Jason Derulo as Rum Tum Tugger, Idris Elba as Macavity, and Rebel Wilson as Jennyanydots.
"At the center of this incredibly entertaining, comedic, fantastical musical is a very timely story about the importance of inclusion and redemption," director Tom Hooper says over footage of a forlorn Hudson cradling a giant milk jug.
