Frozen has found its pair of royal Carolines who will take the Disney musical on the road. Caroline Bowman and Caroline Innerbichler will play Elsa and Anna, respectively, in the show’s national tour, set to open in December at Los Angeles’ Pantages Theatre.
Bowman is poised to take on Arendelle’s ice queen after playing Elphaba and Nicola in Broadway’s Wicked and Kinky Boots. Her additional credits include the national tours of Evita and Spamalot.
Minnesota-based Innerbichler has appeared in regional productions of such shows as Little House on the Prairie, Guys and Dolls, Mamma Mia!, and the Sound of Music.
In the video below, the pair discuss taking on the beloved roles, as well as offer a preview of their interpretations of Elsa’s “Dangerous to Dream” and Anna’s “For the First Time in Forever.”
Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
The Michael Grandage-helmed musical, based on the 2013 Oscar-winning animated film, opened at Broadway’s St. James Theatre in March 2018, subsequently earning Tony Award nods for Best Musical, Best Score for Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, and Best Book for Jennifer Lee.
Prior to its official L.A. launch, the tour will play Schenectady, New York, November 10–24. Additional engagements include Seattle, Portland, San Diego, Salt Lake City, and Dallas.
