The Broadway revival of Terrence McNally’s Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, directed by Arin Arbus, begins previews May 4 at the Broadhurst Theatre. Starring in the two-hander are Tony, Grammy, and Emmy winner Audra McDonald and two-time Academy Award nominee Michael Shannon.
In celebration of Tony-winning playwright McNally having had 25 shows produced on Broadway, theatregoers can purchase $25 tickets to 25 previews. More information is available here.
Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune debuted Off-Broadway in 1987 and was later seen on Broadway in 2002. The play tells the story of a waitress and a short-order cook's first date turns that turns into something more.
The creative team for the Broadway revival includes Riccardo Hernandez (sets), Emily Rebholz (costumes), Natasha Katz (lighting), Nevin Steinberg (sound), J. Jared Janas (hair, wig, and makeup), Laurie Goldfeder (production stage manager), and 101 Productions, Ltd. (general manager). Hunter Arnold, Debbie Bisno, and Tom Kirdahy are producing.
