Written by Jez Butterworth (Jerusalem), the new play The Ferryman began previews on Broadway October 2, ahead of an opening night October 21. Directed by Tony- and Olivier Award winner Sam Mendes, the play won multiple Olivier Awards during its thrice-extended run on the West End.
Featuring Paddy Considine, Laura Donnelly, and Genevieve O'Reilly, the play follows the Carney family in rural Northern Ireland in 1981; the farmhouse is a hive of activity with preparations for the annual harvest. A day of hard work on the land and a traditional night of feasting and celebrations lie ahead. But this year will be different.
The cast of over 30 also includes Dean Ashton, Charles Dale, Rob Malone, and Justin Edwards. The creative team includes Scarlett Mackmin (choreographer), Rob Howell (scenic and costume design), Peter Mumford (lighting design), and Nick Powell (original music and sound design).
