PhotosFirst Look at “Master Harold”...and the Boys at Signature TheatreTake a first look at Signature Theatre’s staging of “Master Harold” … and the Boys by Athol Fugard.
October 25, 2016
The Off-Broadway production is directed by Tony winner Athol Fugard, with a cast made up of Leon Addison Brown (The Painted Rocks at Revolver Creek), Tony nominee Sahr Ngaujah (FELA!) and Noah Robbins (Grease Live!). Performances take place at The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center, with an official opening night slated for November 7.
“Master Harold” … and the Boys takes place inside a small tea shop occupied by two black men and a young white boy. “[They] joke and dance together, defying the brutalities of apartheid through their joyous love,” state production notes. “But festering issues of family, race, and power are not so easy to ignore, and a single phone call can trigger catastrophe.”
