The National Theatre revival of Tony Kushner’s Pulitzer Prize-winning master work Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes transfers to Broadway’s Neil Simon Theatre following a sold-out London run.
Directed by Tony Award winner Marianne Elliott (War Horse), this new production of Angels in America opened to critical acclaim at the National Theatre last May, where it became the fastest-selling production in the theatre's history.
Members of the original London cast, including Tony Award winner Nathan Lane and Academy Award nominee Andrew Garfield, reprise their performances for the limited, 18-week Broadway engagement that officially opens March 25.
In addition to Lane as Roy Cohn and Garfield as Prior Walter, the cast of Angels in America features Denise Gough as Harper Pitt, Emmy Award nominee Lee Pace as Joe Pitt, James McArdle as Louis Ironson, Susan Brown as Hannah Pitt, Amanda Lawrence as the Angel, and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett as Belize.
The production features set design by Ian MacNeil, costumes by Nicky Gillibrand, lighting by Paule Constable, choreography and movement by Robby Graham, music by Adrian Sutton, sound design by Ian Dickinson, puppetry design by Nick Barnes and Finn Caldwell, illusions by Chris Fisher, aerial direction by Gwen Hales, and fight direction by Kate Waters.
