Exclusive: Jessica Vosk Opens Up About Wicked Career Change in Special Edition of 20/20, The Real Rookies | Playbill

Video Exclusive: Jessica Vosk Opens Up About Wicked Career Change in Special Edition of 20/20, The Real Rookies Watch this excerpt from the ABC broadcast, which airs September 25.
Andrea Bocelli began his professional opera career at 34, Julia Child published her first cookbook at 49, and Vera Wang didn’t become a designer until 40.

Add Jessica Vosk—who, after a career in finance, is starring as Elphaba in Wicked—to that exclusive list.

Vosk, in fact, is one of several Americans profiled in a special edition of 20/20, which debuts September 25 at 10 PM ET on ABC. Anchored by Amy Robach, The Real Rookies showcases the inspiring stories of those who, despite challenges, took the leap of faith necessary to follow their dreams and start new careers later in life.

Vosk’s job in finance came crashing to a halt when she suffered a panic attack following a promotion. She decided to ignore the advice of most of her friends and family and quit her job to pursue her dream of acting. The risk paid off when she scored roles on Broadway in The Bridges of Madison County, Fiddler on the Roof, and Finding Neverland, and in the touring production of Wicked.

In the exclusive video above, Vosk describes the thrill of her first performance as the green-skinned Elphaba. She is currently reprising her role in the Broadway production at the Gershwin Theatre.
